National Print Awards 2015

National Print Awards 2015

This year Docmaster to decided to enter the National Print Awards 2015 with an entry that is particularly special to the team.

This is not the first time we have entered the Awards and definitely won’t be the last. We have been successful in the past winning Gold in Annual Reports and Bronze in Self Promotion categories, just to name a few.

This year we have entered the same book in two categories, Limited Edition and the Booklet category. Our entry is the Fashion Design Studio Graduation 2014 book. Two of our staff members Stephanie and Candi are in this book as they graduated with their Advanced Diploma of Fashion Design last year.
It features a double page spread of each student’s final range. The book has been printed on a silk paper stock. The cover lists the student’s names continuously throughout and has been printed in a spot gloss.

Check out some of the pictures and stay tuned on our social media for updates. Instagram - @northernbeachesprinting Twitter - @NBPrinting Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Northern-Beaches-Printing/624108040999050?ref=bookmarks

Duke's Day 2015

Duke's Day 2015

Docmaster and Northern Beaches Printing were proud to support the 2015 Duke’s Day.

Duke's Day is a day to honour & revere the father of surfing in Australia - Duke Kahanamoku. It is a day to raise awareness, kindness and living in harmony with the coastal environment much in the way of Duke's philosophy.

We worked closely with one of the coordinators on the design, printing and finishing for the Duke’s Day Dinner program that was held on Thursday night 08-01-15. It was very exciting to be a part of this great event.

3D Printing

3D Printing

What it is

3D printing or additive manufacturing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes. In an additive process an object is created by laying down successive layers of material until the entire object is created. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced horizontal cross-section of the eventual object.

How it works

It all starts with making a virtual design of the object you want to create. This virtual design is made in a CAD (Computer Aided Design) file using a 3D modeling program (for the creation of a totally new object) ór with the use of a 3D scanner (to copy an existing object). This scanner makes a 3D digital copy of an object and puts it into a 3D modeling program.

To prepare the digital file created in a 3D modeling program for printing, the software slices the final model into hundreds or thousands of horizontal layers. When this prepared file is uploaded in the 3D printer, the printer creates the object layer by layer. The 3D printer reads every slice (or 2D image) and proceeds to create the object blending each layer together with no sign of the layering visible, resulting in one three dimensional object.
